Would you try mustard-flavored ice cream? We heard French’s and Coolhaus were serving it for free in NYC for National Mustard Day and had to try it!
This is the first vlog of an episodic series called “Inside Scoop” where I’ll be venturing around New York City during the end of summer to try some of the weirdest and classic flavors in town.
In this episode, we walked over to Madison Square Park on August 3, 2019 since we heard French’s and Coolhaus were serving free mustard-flavored ice cream out of a literal ice cream truck. Coolhaus also has physical locations in L.A. that were serving up the stuff. Spoilers are coming up, so continue at your own risk!
The internet’s verdict was that it wasn’t bad and that it was actually sweet. We thought the mustard-flavored ice cream tasted mostly like vanilla with a hint of mustard. I would call it 80% vanilla, 15% yellow coloring, and 5% mustard. Plus, they gave us a pretzel-infused cookie in the cup as well! Nothing like a sweet and savory mix, and pretzels do go well with mustard.
Then, the video team for AOL’s “In The Know” asked to film and interview us as we were tasting it! They must have liked our matching shirts (which we did not plan).
