What is Daiso? It’s a 100-yen store from Japan. One just opened in Edgewater, NJ (right across the river from NYC, and everything’s just $1.99.
But first, we went to Mitsuwa for their annual Summer Festival that featured Japanese street food. (Mitsuwa is a Japanese supermarket and food court that has 11 locations in the United States.)
First, we had to take the bus from the city through the Lincoln Tunnel to NJ. Then first Jessi tried kakigori, which is shaved iced with flavored syrup on top. Then we all grabbed lunch including good eats like yakitori, yakisoba (Aggretsuko anyone?), takoyaki, onigiri, and ramen.
Emma also got a Pikachu mask, lol.
Then we headed inside to the grocery store to grab some snacks. Shrimp Crackers, Hello Panda, UCC canned coffee (Kona’s the best)… obviously the essentials.
Finally, we headed into Daiso, which recently opened next to Mitsuwa. First thing I saw was Disney Mickey Mouse merch, which took a lot of will power to resist buying. Lots of home goods, things with cats on them, and every variation and flavor of snacks. So yes, I bought some stuff… including a tote bag because it had cats on it.
Once I got home, I did a haul. And then that’s a wrap!
